The Tutoring Center, Hillsborough NJ

Poor sleep quality can have a negative impact on your children’s school performance. From lack of focus to the inability to retain information, sleep plays a crucial role in the growth and  development.

The importance of sleeping can’t be overstated and it’s as relevant as eating healthy or having the right study habits. For this reason at The Tutoring Center in Hillsborough, we invite you to read the following post containing information to improve your children’s sleep.

Brushing teeth, putting the pajamas on and even enjoying a story before bedtime will set the right attitude to sleep. Create a routine and set a bedtime schedule, even during the weekend. This will adjust the sleep-wake cycle of your children and will provide them with the energy they need for the day.

Set the Right Condition

Absence of light is crucial for a good night’s sleep, as the body produces a hormone to control the sleeping and waking cycles, so make sure to use thick curtains. Also, set a cool temperature in the room, around 60-67 degrees and make sure to provide your children with enough blankets. Don’t forget to check the condition of the mattress and vacuum it frequently to remove any allergens.

What to Avoid?

Watch the kind of beverages your children drink, as caffeine may be one of the ingredients and this substance may cause insomnia. Your children should also avoid physical exercise 2-3 hours prior bedtime and ban the use of cellphones, TV or other device that emits blue light, which can cause sleep disturbances.

Instilling great sleep habits in your children isn’t difficult and has many benefits, so be sure to follow these ideas. Also, don’t forget to read this previous post on decreasing anxiety and stress in your child.
